Somos Vecinos | Spanish Classes

Somos Vecinos (“We are Neighbors”) is Casa Latina's Spanish language and exchange program. Classes are dynamic, interactive, and intended to help students feel comfortable conversing with the Spanish speaking community.

During COVID-19, we have moved all classes to a virtual setting. Please visit our events page for the latest class openings.

Classes are taught by native Spanish speakers and explore the culture of Latin America as well as themes related to Latino immigrants living in the US. Intermediate and advanced classes include language exchange with students taking Casa Latina’s English classes.

Below you can find more detail of the separate classes offered in the Somos Vecinos program.

Beginner A is a class for true beginners who want to start at the beginning! Beginner classes do not include a language exchange. Classes are held on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 pm.

Beginner B is a class for beginners who know basic vocabulary and some simple phrases in Spanish but still are unable to have a conversation in Spanish. Beginner classes do not include a language exchange. Classes are held on Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 pm.

Intermediate classes include a facilitated language exchange with Latino ESL students. Class is held on Monday evenings from 6 to 7:30 pm, and the exchange runs from 7:30 until 8:15 pm.

Advanced classes include a facilitated language exchange with students taking English classes. Class is held on Monday evenings from 6 to 7:30 pm, and the language exchange runs from 7:30 until 8:15 pm.
