Javier Zamora, "Solito," with Claudia Castro Luna

We are delighted to present acclaimed poet Javier Zamora on the occasion of his extraordinary memoir about coming to the U.S. as an undocumented child from El Salvador, Solito: A Memoir (Hogarth).

This evening is co-presented with our partners and colleagues at The Elliot Bay Company bookstore – and will be hosted at Casa Latina.

Seattle poet Claudia Castro Luna, herself also originally from El Salvador, will join Javier Zamora in conversation. Seattle’s first Civic Poet, and a two-term Washington State Poet Laureate, she is most recently the author of a powerful new book of poems, Cipota Under the Moon (Tia Chucha Press).

We will have copies of Solito in both its English-language original and the Spanish-language edition. Javier Zamora is also the poet of a stunning first book of poetry, Unaccompanied, from nearby Copper Canyon Press.
