Thank you to the members, jornaleros (day laborers), domestic workers, and household helpers for your honesty, determination, and care. To the board of directors - all volunteers, I am deeply appreciative of your support.
I have served as the interim executive director of Casa Latina for the last nine months. A season in my life that I will reflect on with gratitude, and pride. Pride in living our mission, in the resiliency every day of Latino immigrants in the midst of a pandemic, and our commitment to growth, as an organization and as people.
I will be passing the torch in April. The three new co-executive directors will be introduced soon. It will be an exciting chapter for Casa Latina with a new shared leadership model that flattens hierarchy and allows for new leaders to be in the community with members.
Our priority is to create a place where people feel welcomed and heard.
I am filled with gratitude to the staff for their warmth, support, and hard work. When I joined Casa Latina, I learned that half of the staff had previously been a member. Casa Latina saw the value in building from the base and the power of creating community-centric solutions.
Thank you to the members, jornaleros (day laborers), domestic workers, and household helpers for your honesty, determination, and care. To the board of directors – all volunteers, I am deeply appreciative of your support. And to the many contributors of Casa Latina, thank you.
Together, we have walked towards our vision to advance the power of Latino immigrants. Adelante y con cariño.
With care,
Guadalupe Torres,
Interim Executive Director
