Dear Casa Latina Family,
In the last week, the Casa Latina Board of Directors has received communications from former staff, current staff, and members with concerns about the sexual harassment complaints and overall work culture. We appreciate all efforts to reach out to the board to share information.
Casa Latina plays a vital role in our community and we are here to ensure the well-being of the organization. The Casa Latina board will be overseeing an independent investigation into Casa Latina’s practices to get an impartial report of the circumstances and facts.
An immediate next step includes retaining necessary and skilled experts to investigate and gather pertinent information, review practices and procedures and make a full report to the Board of Directors. Additionally, a dispute resolution specialist will provide mediation services for staff and members, as needed. Our goal is to have people contracted by the first week of June and to conclude the investigation within 30 days after they are hired.
We believe that staff, members, and board can work together to rebuild trust and to support Casa Latina on a path forward together. On behalf of the board, I want you to know that we are moving quickly to help us understand and address the concerns and challenges brought to our attention. We wish to assure all members of the Casa Latina Family, the Board of Directors takes these matters seriously and we will not delay in providing more information, at the earliest opportunity, as to our next steps. We thank you, in advance, for your patience. We promise a fair and transparent process along with an ample opportunity to hear from all members of the Casa Latina Family.
Pilar Pacheco, Casa Latina Board President
